Traditional Mexican cuisine is a fusion, and likewise, Bistro Mexique is a story of fusion.
A charming bistro
Chef Arody was born in Monterrey, Mexico in 1983 into a family of chefs – with an Italian father and Mexican mother fusion cuisine is in his blood. Following his European roots, his early career flourished in Italy and then, France, and then in a variety of restaurants in Northern Mexico, where he specialized in Italian and French cuisines as executive chef.
This interest in a mezcla of cultures and traditions have brought him, together with Maison Mexique Boutique Hotel, to create Bistro Mexique. A charming bistro where diners experience French-style food made with Mexican ingredients in a beautiful, friendly environment.
The inspiration for our menu comes from the French-Mexican fusion that formed the basis for Mexican haute cuisine (or Alta Cocina Mexicana) that flourished during the Porfiriato in the 19th Century. The French influence was present throughout Mexico, even among Indigenous communities, where Gallicisms still abound: consommé, omelette, champiñón. The Mexican influence is ever-present with corn (in polenta), beans, and chilis, followed by others of Nahuatl origin: tomato, chocolate, vanilla, and other fruits.
With its formal techniques, emphasis on fresh ingredients and traditional flavors, pride in presentation, and rich and colorful history, Bistro Mexique reflects the high culinary standards of French and Mexican cooking.
